Around the island

FIRST DAY

The first day is your arrival day and we will spend it exploring the town of Mytilini including some spots of interest. We will have a nice traditional Greek meal at a beautiful sea-side taverna, have time to relax in your hotel and receive all the information/logistics about the trip.

SECOND DAY

Our starting point is the castle of Mytilini where we take the bikes and start cycling towards to the north east part of the island. The road is busy  with traffic for the first 3-4 km. We pass the beautiful village of Panagiouda with it’s picturesque small port.

THIRD DAY

We wake up, eat breakfast and start rough-road cycling (approx. 15 km) from Sikaminia to Eftalou, riding along the seashore with a terrific view of Turkey’s coast to the right of us. At Eftalou, we will stop to dip in the hot thermal springs, to swim in the sea and to relax on the all-pebble beach.

FIRST DAY

Today we’ll have some difficult cycling until we reach Antissa due to the mountainous nature of the route to reach the next village. The view is incredible and rewarding after our challenging route. We pass Skoutaros village, Skalohori and Vatousa where we end the day at the beautiful square full of trees in Antissa, and the small tavernas nearby.

SECOND DAY

Today we have a relaxing morning because we will cycle only 20 km on a (mostly) downhill road. Our scenery changes to a more arid, dry environment. Approx. half way through the route, we stop at the the monastery of Ypsilou, uniquely set at the top of a hill in a place curiously resembling another planet. (Note – Greek monasteries are usually built in places which bring the human soul closer to God).

THIRD DAY

Today we cycle on rough road along the coastline, all 19 kilometers of it. This area is usually windy and has attractracted many windsurfers and kitesurfers from around. We reach the upper village of Eressos, have a break and explore the cobblestone streets of the village. After, we continue on to Skala Eressos where we will have time to swim and suntan on the very long beach strip.
