Q: Do I need to have prior kayaking experience?
No experience is necessary for any of our trips. We paddle with first time kayakers every day. Lesvosadventures provides kayaking instruction as part of all of our tours. Our focus is on safety and our knowledge of the local waters allows even our first time paddlers a comfortable, rewarding experience. The first part of our outing is spent learning about the kayak, how to efficiently get in and out, how to use the rudder, basic paddle strokes and safety procedures. We are experienced paddlers/instructors who know how to make learning paddling a fun and rewarding experience.
Q: What kind of shape do I need to be in?
You do not need to be an athlete to be a sea kayaker; paddling is a low level aerobic exercise that relies more on technique than brute strength. Lesvosadventure day tours are designed to accomodate a wide variety of people and skill levels. When you make a reservation we let you know which tours are more family friendly and which are gear toward the traveler seeking an active adventure.
Q: Will I tip over? Do I need to be a swimmer?
We use a fleet of very stable single and comfortable double (two person) sea kayaks. While it is possible to capsize any boat, it is extremely unlikely that you would tip over this very seaworthy craft, especially while under the supervision of one of us. You will of course be fitted with one of our Personal Flotation Devices (PFD), a spray skirt and other gear to provide a safe and fun experience. We aim to stay high and dry! And no, you do not need to be a swimmer but its more comfortable if you are.
What is the weather like?
Lesvos has a Mediterranean climate with short, wet winters and warm, dry summers and a high percentage of sunshine throughout the year. May, June and September are the most pleasant months to visit, with little rain and cooler temperatures than the suffocating heat of
the summer months, where temperatures can reach 104°F (40°C).
What should I wear?
Clothing depends on which season you will be travelling in and for which trip you will be joining. Summer season daily trips don't require anything more than your bathing suit, a light lycra/cotton shirt, a hat and sunblock. Watershoes are preferrable. As for the multi-day trips which are normally spring and fall temperatures with overnight stays, it's advisable to pack heavier clothing, for example running shoes, jacket, pants, long-sleeved shirts, etc.
What if I want to book a reservation for a large group?
If you are part of a team, school group or other organization, and you'd like to book for more than 6 people, we offer a discount of 10% on the total price and we will need advanced notice. Please don't forget that our space allowance is also limited and we cannot accomodate a trip for more than 12 people.
What kind of kayaks do you use?

Can i send my child on a trip unaccompanied?
Our safety policy is strict for obvious reasons and we cannot have unsupervised children accompany the trips. For daily trips, the minimum age (unaccompanied) is 14 years old. For multi-day trips, the minimum age (unaccompanied) is 17 years old. And for kayak rentals (without guide) the minimum age is 16 years old.
